The duties of Planning include administering the Land Development Code (LDC), addressing, permitting, subdivision and plan review, regularly updating the Town's Future Land Use Plan, and providing support to the Historic Preservation Commission, Board of Adjustment, Planning Board, and Board of Commissioners.

Land Development Code 101

The Land Development Code (LDC)replaced the UDO in the Town of Waxhaw on March 23, 2021.

The LDC is a local policy instrument that combines traditional zoning and subdivision regulations with other municipal regulations, such as design guidelines, sign regulations, and floodplain and stormwater management, into one document. By combining all of these regulations in a single document, the LDC streamlines and coordinates the development process of permits and approvals by removing inconsistencies and eliminating outdated policies.
