Besides the typical Information Technology responsibilities including, but not limited to computers, servers, backups, antivirus software, firewalls, virtual environment, wireless, switches, network topology, hardware and software, the Information Technology Department assists all Town of Waxhaw departments with their specific needs. These needs can range from wireless mobile units for the Police Department, imaging software for the waste water camera inspection system that is used by Public Services and wireless technology used in the parks and down town area.

One of the newest projects the Information Technology Department has taken on is video streaming. Board of Commissioners meetings are held twice a month and are streamed live on YouTube.com. Parades, summer concerts and other special events are also streamed and will be advertised ahead of time on social media and the town's website.

The Information Technologies Director assists the town staff with the design and implementation of all items related to technology.

The Systems Administrator works with the IT Director to aid the town staff with all hardware and software support, tablet and cell phones and manages the HelpDesk support system.
