The Town of Waxhaw will have a new waste and recycling schedule effective November 29, 2021. The schedule will move garbage and recycling pick-ups from three days a week to five and yard waste pick-ups from Tuesdays to the day of trash pickup.

Year-Round Bulk Pick-Up

Waxhaw residents can bulk pickup through Waste Pro weekly for a small fee. Residents can have their bulk items picked up by calling Waste Pro at 980-296-1126. Residents with appliances and grills can call Waxhaw Public Services at 704-843-7439, and will be picked up at no fee.

*Please do not put your items out for pick-up unless it has been scheduled.

Please note- only items discussed with Waste Pro when scheduling will be picked up.  Other items left by the curb will not get picked up and this could result in a code enforcement citation and/or an issue with the resident’s HOA.

Items that WILL be picked up:

● Mattresses & Box Springs

● White Goods (Appliances)

● Furniture

● Televisions

● General Household Items

Items that will NOT be picked up:

● Motors, Batteries and Car Parts

● Tires

● Oil

● Paint

● Hazardous Chemicals

● Pianos

● Building and Renovation Materials such as lumber, carpeting, tile, doors, wooden pallets

Routes will vary so all items must be out by the curb as directed. Once your street has been serviced, no return trips will be made!

 Reminder: This is for the Town of Waxhaw residents only.

Beginning July 1, 2023, Waste Pro will only pick up yard waste placed in paper bags. These bags can be purchased for a nominal fee at Lowe’s, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, and Costco retailers. 

Please remember yard debris pickup takes place year-round on the same day as trash pick-up. Just leave the bags curbside by 7 a.m. on the day of your trash pick-up.

The Southside Cemetery is owned and operated by the Town of Waxhaw.  It is located at 111 Arbor Drive.  It was created around 1910 by a group of prominent Waxhaw residents who pooled their money in order to purchase the property and create a cemetery for the community.  The area that now surrounds the arbor was the initial location.  Over the years, with several expansions the cemetery is now over 7 1/2 acres.  

In partnership with The American Legion Post 208, American Flags are placed on each Veterans grave for Memorial Day and a wreath-laying ceremony is held each December on National Wreaths Across America Day in an effort to Remember, Honor and Teach about the Veterans. They provide grounds care and landscaping services as well as grave openings and closings. They strive to provide a beautiful and calming setting for visitors.  The Cemetery Manager maintains the records that are involved in the operation of this cemetery.

2022/2023 Leaf Vacuuming Program

Monday, Nov. 6, 2023, until Thursday Jan. 25, 2024.

Leaves will be vacuumed on Mondays through Thursdays. Due to other obligations, vacuuming will NOT be conducted on Fridays. Each street throughout the town will be vacuumed and then we will start the process again. Routes may vary. Due to the number of homes in the town and the volume of leaves, it may be several weeks between stops at your address.

In order to assist us in making this program more efficient and timelier, please refer to the following:

• Piles should consist of leaves only. Limbs, rocks and other items damage vacuum machines and equipment. If these are observed within your piles of leaves, they will not be vacuumed.
• Leaf piles must be raked to the edge of the street. Equipment cannot reach piles that are not adjacent to the street.
• Please DO NOT place leaves in ditches or into storm drains. This leads to storm drain blockages.
• Please allow room for our large equipment. DO NOT park on or near leaf piles. If this occurs, the leaves will not be vacuumed.
• Vacuuming service will be suspended on inclement weather days but will resume as soon as weather permits.
• Please understand, you do not have to call to inform us that you have left the leaves in front of your home. We are working as quickly as possible to collect all of them. We have over 6600 homes to service. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to conduct this service in a timely manner.
