Census+Graphic+Waxhaw+NC+20202020 Census Everyone Counts!

The Census is a national survey conducted every ten years by the federal government to determine how many people are living in the United States. The census population count determines how many representatives each state will have in Congress for the next ten years and how much federal funding communities will receive for roads, schools, housing, and social programs.

Waxhaw, NC had a population of 9,915 residents in 2010. Our town came in at 20,534 residents, putting us at a 108.5 percent increase.

We had a notable change in Race demographics, as well. Our Black community grew 66 percent with our Hispanic population growing 188 percent. Our Asian and Pacific Island population changed 601 percent! We love the diversity and welcome that unique backgrounds of all people.

So, what does this all mean?

As our town continues to grow, we will do our best to continue to analyze and survey the wants and needs of our residents, including but not limited to topics such as transportation, local character, economic development, and walkability.

Thank you for making Waxhaw, NC a community to grow with!
