Welcome to the Waxhaw Police Department's website—a hub for information about our dedicated team of officers and the vital work they do. Comprising 34 full-time officers and 9 part-time (or auxiliary) officers across five divisions—Administrative, Community Police, Patrol, Detectives, and Animal Control—we aim to keep you informed.

Our officers are committed public servants, passionate about both their work and community. Through ongoing training and collaboration with other law enforcement agencies in Union County, we strive for continuous improvement. We acknowledge that community involvement is crucial for our success, and we encourage citizens to join us in addressing shared challenges.

Message From the Chief

In July of 2023, I was offered the position of Chief of Police, and I am truly honored to serve the citizens of Waxhaw.  I started my law enforcement career in 1992 when I enlisted in the United States Air Force as a law enforcement canine handler.  I have been employed by the Waxhaw Police Department since 2006.  Over the past 30 plus years, I have learned that the combination of proactive policing and community policing greatly reduces criminal activity.  We would not have been able to accomplish our mission thus far without the assistance of the citizens of Waxhaw and every Officer employed in The Town of Waxhaw.

At the Waxhaw Police Department, we believe communication is an essential trait needed when building public trust.  We will always strive to be open, transparent, and work together with the community to ensure our citizens are heard and their opinions valued.  The job of a police officer is extremely difficult, especially in these ever-changing times.  Police officers must have the support of their community and their Police Chief to be successful and accomplish their goals and mission.  They will always have my support when they are professional, adhere to department policy, and treat everyone they encounter with dignity and respect.

The Waxhaw Police Department is always developing innovative community policing strategies to reduce crime and minimize fear in our community.  Together, along with the town leadership and the support of the community, the Waxhaw Police Department will be the model for success not only in Union County, but across North Carolina.
